ALPHINGTON SEWERAGE PROJECT

Location: Yarra River, Alphington
Highlights: Complex works involved the construction of a multifaceted siphon pipeline under the Yarra River between Alphington and Kew in order to meet the growing sewer demands of the community into the future.
Works undertaken involved:
- Construction of a concrete encased 3 pipe PE syphon under the Yarra River
- De-watering and excavating 15m deep sheet-piled sections of the Yarra River, in order to install the syphon
- PE welding of Ø600, Ø450 and Ø355, PE pipe in restricted access and entry spaces
- Steel fixing and form work was constructed insitu due to restricted space
- Placement of rock on the river bed and re-instatement to minimise impact to the existing environment
- Delcon Civil were a finalist in the 2016 CCF Earth Awards for this project
