M102 SOMMERVILLE ROAD WATER MAINS RENEWAL

Highlights: Replacement of the existing M102 Water main with a DN900 MSCL pipe through the suburbs of West Footscray, Yarraville and Kingsville.

Works undertaken involved:

  • Installation of over 2.5km of DN900 MSCL pipework
  • Installation of 5 No. DN900 Butterfly Valves and Bypass Arrangements
  • Installation of 1 No. DN1200 Butterfly Valve and Bypass Arrangement
  • Installation of Air Valves and Scour Valves offtakes along alignment
  • Open Cut Crossing of Princes Highway during Occupational Weekends
  • Pipelay through Roberts Roundabout
  • Open Cut Pipe Install through Stony Creek at Cruickshank Park involving Bypass Pumping and Asbestos removal
  • Excavation around more than 200 No. services without any strikes
  • Successful pipelay beneath 5 No. Transmission Gas Mains
  • 30% of Pipeline Alignment ran parallel to a Transmission Gas Asset
  • 90% of Pipeline ran parallel to Overhead Asset’s
  • Upgrade of City West Water Assets
  • Cathodic Protection Installation
  • Commissioning of new pipeline including 9 No. Cutovers
  • Varying ground conditions including greasyback and rock
