M102 SOMMERVILLE ROAD WATER MAINS RENEWAL

Highlights: Replacement of the existing M102 Water main with a DN900 MSCL pipe through the suburbs of West Footscray, Yarraville and Kingsville.
Works undertaken involved:
- Installation of over 2.5km of DN900 MSCL pipework
- Installation of 5 No. DN900 Butterfly Valves and Bypass Arrangements
- Installation of 1 No. DN1200 Butterfly Valve and Bypass Arrangement
- Installation of Air Valves and Scour Valves offtakes along alignment
- Open Cut Crossing of Princes Highway during Occupational Weekends
- Pipelay through Roberts Roundabout
- Open Cut Pipe Install through Stony Creek at Cruickshank Park involving Bypass Pumping and Asbestos removal
- Excavation around more than 200 No. services without any strikes
- Successful pipelay beneath 5 No. Transmission Gas Mains
- 30% of Pipeline Alignment ran parallel to a Transmission Gas Asset
- 90% of Pipeline ran parallel to Overhead Asset’s
- Upgrade of City West Water Assets
- Cathodic Protection Installation
- Commissioning of new pipeline including 9 No. Cutovers
- Varying ground conditions including greasyback and rock
